FIELD VISIT ROUTE AND AGENDA
Place: Proshyan village, Kotayk region
In 2020 ICARE established its own campus named Zabel Yessayan Agribusiness Center (ZYAC). ZYAC is a learning-by-doing agricultural technology and agribusiness incubation center of ICARE, which promotes entrepreneurship, environmentally conscious agriculture, a healthy lifestyle, and nature appreciation. ZYAC provides agribusiness incubation opportunities for ICARE students and young professionals who are passionate about establishing their agribusiness
companies or conducting important research projects.
Content/topics to be seen/presented
- Presentation of the drip irrigation system integrated with sprinkler irrigation at the apricot orchard. Irrigation system was established with EU GAIA project support.
- Presentation of the solar panel renewable energy source system, which fully covers the needs of the entire campus.
- Apiculture (beehives) project. Around 100 beehives which use a sustainable and chemicals-free breeding methods (the only one in Armenia).
- Visiting the students' experimental winery and a complimentary wine tasting. (TBC)
- Photographs with Zabel Yessayan's statue. The only statue in Armenia dedicated to a specific woman.
Place: Dzoraghbyur community, Kotayk region
The GTC is a unique model of learning center with focus on sustainable agriculture best practices. Apart from provision of different practical training courses on sustainable agriculture to farmers, students, specialists, researches and other practitioners who are interested in various areas of sustainable agriculture, the GTC also organizes a lot of experience exchange events and workshops. More than 10 thousand visitors visit the center annually.
Content/topics to be seen/presented
Drip irrigation, anti-hail net system, water harvesting methods, alternative solar energy and eco-friendly fruit sun-dryers. There are also wide range of non-traditional plants (trees, herbs, berries, vegetables) which are cultivated in the area of GTC.
